Project 365 - #83 Garance Dore Open Studio
I have been a fan of Garance’s lifestyle blog for a few years - even before she became Scott Schuman’s girlfriend (the Sartorialist). Somehow I learnt about the blogging world a bit earlier than others, and have seen the rise of some very first famous bloggers (fashion toast, seaofshoes, etc.) They all somehow get really boring with so little content, and are heavily controlled by media companies. Garance’s witty writing, actual talent and original thoughts rise above everyone else. Even the typography is fantastic. I think the web is such a place for her to shine because she is all about visual that contains a well written story. Her blog is the only one that I check everyday. I was so happy to have a chance to go to the Open Studio today to see her and check out her stationary line. It’s pretty surreal to see how she evolved from a village girl to the megapower blogger that can be picky over which brand she wants to work with, to a French Vogue contributor, to make a blog so rich with multiple media mediums (writing, illustrator, photos, video, slideshow, shop, etc.). I think the stationery line is probably not that impressive to a lot of people, but just to think of the journey she has gone to get to produce something she loves with her own creativity is really impressive.
Also, I love her French accent and brilliant smile! So real!
Project 365 - #82 although it was the worst commute ever, the coldest and rainiest and longest wait ever, and everything was not as grand as I expected, it was still so worth it to see the one and only #garance dore
